The job market is full of competition these days. It is quite difficult to get into the job of your choice. Your aim should always be clear. It is important to decide about the field in which you want to go from the very beginning.
Examples of special areas that those aspiring coaches can choose from are in personal topics, business, finance, health and in relationships. Take note that business and finance areas might require that you have specialized knowledge with regards those fields. A business degree will be very advantageous. The same is true with health and relationships wherein knowledge in health and psychology in relationships will give you an easier time.
Perhaps there is some truth to this but I'll play devil's advocate now and ask, how much easier and more productive would my life be if I didn't hold this belief? What if I could just plop myself down at the start of a project, a book chapter, or a workshop outline and get to the work?
It will also be a good idea to read up on the finance industry so you know what you are getting yourself into 4 years from now once you graduate from college.
After completing my Management degree I started in a graduate program with a very successful and well known manufacturing company. I learnt a lot of things and met a lot of fantastic people. After 2 years there I moved on to a global finance career company where I learnt a lot of new things and met a lot of new fantastic people. Two years after that, I changed jobs again. This time I worked for an Emergency Services Organisation and again, I learnt a lot of new things and met a lot of new people. I have since held several more positions in all sorts of organisations. I have learnt so many things and met so many amazing people.
Moreover, be part of the industry; think of yourself as already doing whatever it is you want to do. For example, if you are moving from finance into journalism, join freelance websites and directories, attend press briefings and start writing articles for smaller publications and websites to build your portfolio. You may not be an expert, yet, in your chosen area, but that doesn't mean you can't get started. In fact, the sooner you start, the easier it will be for you to find a job and network with the here right people.
Opportunities are everywhere in marketing now if you want to be in business for yourself. More letters after you name in most cases, simply means more student loans to work your way out of.
